Gravid uge 7 – når graviditeten fylder mere

Week 7 of pregnancy is for many a week when the pregnancy begins to take on more weight – both physically and mentally. Symptoms can be obvious, and energy levels are often low. Even though the belly is not yet visible, the body is working intensely to support the pregnancy.

It's completely normal if week 7 feels demanding.

What happens in the body in week 7?

In week 7 of pregnancy, hormone production is still high. HCG levels are still rising, and the hormones affect, among other things, digestion, circulation, and the nervous system. The uterus is slowly growing, and blood flow in the body increases.

The embryo is developing rapidly this week. The basic structures of the brain, spinal cord, and organs are starting to take shape, although development is still at a very early stage.

Symptoms in pregnancy week 7

Many people experience that the symptoms continue or intensify in the 7th week of pregnancy. Nausea and vomiting can be very bothersome, and for some it becomes necessary to adjust everyday life. Fatigue is often pronounced and can feel different from ordinary exhaustion.

Sore breasts, changes in appetite, changes in taste, and increased sensitivity to smells are still common symptoms. At the same time, mood swings may occur more than usual.

Pregnant week 7 and fatigue

Fatigue in week 7 of pregnancy is caused by both hormonal changes and the body's increased energy consumption. The body prioritizes pregnancy, and this can be felt as a significant need for rest.

It is important to take fatigue seriously and give yourself permission to slow down.

Can you test positive at week 7?

In week 7 of pregnancy, a pregnancy test will show a clear positive result. The HCG level is high and the test is reliable. If you have previously had doubts about the result, there will usually be no more uncertainty this week.

What can you do in week 7?

Week 7 is all about listening to your body. Small, frequent meals can help with nausea, and breaks during the day may be necessary. There is no requirement to be able to do the same things as before pregnancy.

If the pregnancy is confirmed, you can contact your doctor for information about the next steps, if you have not already done so.

Thoughts and feelings in pregnancy week 7

Week 7 of pregnancy can be emotionally intense. Expectations, worries, and joy can coexist. Many find that pregnancy begins to feel more real, which can arouse both security and uncertainty.

There is no one right way to have it.

In the 7th week of pregnancy, there is generally no need to seek emergency medical attention. If you experience severe pain, persistent bleeding, severe nausea with signs of dehydration, or other symptoms that worry you, you should contact a doctor.
