Gravid uge 6 – når symptomerne ofte tager til

For many, week 6 of pregnancy is a period when pregnancy becomes more physically noticeable. The body is strongly affected by hormonal changes, and symptoms such as nausea and fatigue can take up more of your daily life. Even though pregnancy is still early, it can feel all-consuming.

It's completely normal if week 6 feels more demanding than the previous weeks.

What happens in the body in week 6?

In week 6 of pregnancy, the production of the pregnancy hormone hCG continues to increase. The hormones support the pregnancy, but also affect digestion, circulation and energy levels. The uterus is slowly growing, although this is not yet visible from the outside.

The embryo develops rapidly during this phase, and the foundations for several of the body's organs are formed.

Symptoms in pregnancy week 6

Many people experience an increase in symptoms during the 6th week of pregnancy. Nausea may become more pronounced and may be accompanied by vomiting in some. Fatigue is often significant, and the need for rest may be greater than usual.

Sore breasts, changes in appetite, changes in taste, and increased sensitivity to smells are also common symptoms this week. At the same time, mood swings can occur, which is related to hormonal changes.

Pregnant week 6 and nausea

Nausea in week 6 is often associated with the increasing levels of hormones. For some, the nausea is constant, while for others it comes in waves. The body's response is different, and there is great variation in both intensity and duration.

Lack of nausea is not a sign that anything is wrong.

Can you test positive at week 6?

In week 6 of pregnancy, a pregnancy test will usually show a clear positive result. The hCG level is now high enough for the test to be reliable. If you have previously experienced inconclusive or weakly positive tests, the result will often be clearer this week.

What can you do in week 6?

In week 6, you may need to adjust your daily routine to accommodate your body's needs. Small, frequent meals can help with nausea, and rest is important if energy is low.

If the pregnancy is confirmed, you can contact your doctor for guidance on what to do next, but there is rarely a need for quick action.

Thoughts and feelings in pregnancy week 6

Week 6 of pregnancy can be emotionally demanding. The body is changing rapidly, and many people experience both joy and worry. It is completely normal to be more sensitive or insecure during this period.

When should you seek medical attention?

In week 6 of pregnancy, there is usually no need for emergency medical care. If you experience severe pain, persistent bleeding, severe discomfort or signs of dehydration, you should contact a doctor for an assessment.

Ready for next week

In week 7 of pregnancy, symptoms may continue or worsen, and many find that the body requires even more rest. If you want to read about week 7, you can do so here.
