Gravid uge 10 – en vigtig milepæl i graviditeten

Week 10 of pregnancy is experienced by many as a mental milestone. Although the pregnancy is still in the first trimester, the risk of miscarriage gradually begins to decrease, and for some it gives a little more peace of mind. However, the symptoms may still be evident, and the body is still working intensely.

Week 10 can therefore include both relief and continued physical challenge.

What happens in the body in week 10?

In week 10 of pregnancy, hormone production is still high, but for some, the body slowly begins to adjust to the hormonal changes. HCG levels are still high, but will begin to stabilize within the coming weeks.

The uterus continues to grow, and the amount of blood in the body continues to increase. This can cause symptoms such as fatigue, lightheadedness, or palpitations. The body prioritizes pregnancy, and energy may still be limited.

Symptoms in pregnancy week 10

Symptoms in week 10 of pregnancy vary greatly. Some find that nausea and fatigue are still a big part of it, while others start to notice a slow improvement. Sore breasts, changes in appetite, and loss of smell are still common pregnancy signs.

It is completely normal if the symptoms change character this week – both to one side and the other.

What happens to the baby in week 10?

In week 10 of pregnancy, the baby is about 3–4 centimeters long and weighs a few grams. Most of the body's organs are now formed, and development moves from forming structures to fine-tuning functions.

The arms and legs are clearly formed, and the fingers and toes are separate. The head is still relatively large in relation to the body, as the brain is developing rapidly. The baby's heart beats regularly, and the nervous system continues to develop.

Pregnant week 10 and the belly

For most people, the belly is not yet clearly pregnant at week 10. However, some may find that clothes feel tighter than usual. This is often due to the growth of the uterus and hormonal bloating rather than the size of the baby.

Can you test positive at week 10?

In week 10 of pregnancy, a pregnancy test will show a clear and certain positive result. The HCG level is high, and there is no doubt about the result at this point.

What can you do in week 10?

In week 10, it may be a good idea to continue to pay attention to your body's signals. Rest, regular meals, and realistic expectations for energy levels can make everyday life easier.

Many people choose to contact a doctor or midwife during this period, if they have not already done so, to get an overview of the course of the pregnancy.

Thoughts and feelings in pregnancy week 10

Week 10 of pregnancy can bring more security, but also new thoughts. For some, pregnancy begins to feel more real, and the future becomes clearer. It is normal to feel both relief and continued worry.

There is room for both.

When should you seek medical attention?

In week 10 of pregnancy, there is generally no need to seek emergency medical attention. However, if you experience severe pain, persistent bleeding, fever or other symptoms that worry you, you should always contact a doctor.
